Grass Valley EDIUS Pro software not only provides realtime mixed format editing, but also realtime video output directly from the timeline. Operating solely with OHCI FireWire controllers, EDIUS Pro can deliver constant realtime DV output. When combined with EDIUS realtime editing hardware, EDIUS Pro can also provide realtime output to a number of other video formats, ranging from uncompressed analog SD and HD, right up to HD-SDI, depending on the EDIUS NLE system you choose.
When playing back video from the EDIUS Pro timeline, all aspect ratio conversions between 4:3 and 16:9 video, frame rate conversions including NTSC and PAL, and resolution conversions between standard and high definition video are processed and delivered to you in realtime.
Content created with EDIUS Pro can also be switched from HD to SD and vice versa. For example, EDIUS Pro can automatically upscale a mix of SD MPEG-2 and DV footage for playback in HD resolutions. EDIUS can also downscale an HD project that features HDV clips and output in DV, all in realtime. Realtime output not only provides instant results to tape or video monitors, but also delivers any video in the format required.
Upon completion of a project, EDIUS Pro offers export support to all widely used file formats and mediums, such as MPEG-2, DV, and HDV. To assist you in choosing the right options for your intended delivery format, you can also export your timeline with ProCoder Express for EDIUS. Built with the same high-speed, high-quality encoding and media technology found in Grass Valley ProCoder 3, ProCoder Express for EDIUS features an easy-to-use Wizard interface, guiding you every step of the way to export to QuickTime, Real Video, Windows Media, and more.
If you need to send your project out as a DVD, EDIUS Pro also provides a basic DVD authoring package for you to quickly put together simple DVD titles with static menus based off the artwork included in the style gallery. DVD Creator can either use the material on the current EDIUS Pro timeline, or import a pre-encoded MPEG-2 stream. Additionally, DVD Creator supports authoring to single-layer and dual-layer media, and Dolby Digital AC-3 (stereo) audio encoding.
