EDIUS Pro provides simple, streamlined and responsive controls for importing media into a project. EDIUS Pro capturing modes not only include industry-standard options for batch capturing and scene-detection, but also allow editors to perform three and four-point edits of footage from an external VTR and place them directly onto the timeline. To provide easier integration of EDIUS-based editing systems into any production environment, EDIUS Pro supports import and export of Advanced Authoring Format (AAF) files from Digidesign® Pro Tools® and Adobe® Afgter Effects®, and BVE5000, BVE9100, CMX340 and CMX3600 EDL files. With AAF and EDL import/export, and the timeline reconstruction features, EDIUS Pro offers strong offline editing support, regardless of the video format being used.
In addition to extensive video format support, EDIUS Pro can also import many popular digital media formats such as 32-bit QuickTime® clips, Windows Media® clips, MP3 and Dolby® Digital AC-3 audio files, and Adobe PhotoShop® images. EDIUS Pro also features a still image sequence importer to allow editors to quickly import compositions created in other third-party 3D modeling and animation packages. These image sequences can also be converted to Canopus HQ video files, complete with alpha channel information, for instant compositing and layering on the timeline.
Editing operations within EDIUS Pro are engineered for high-speed productivity, without compromising on quality. The flexible user interface offers multiple, nested timelines with unlimited video, audio, title and graphics tracks. EDIUS Pro editing modes include ripple, slip, V/A split, slide and rolling, as well as combinations of these modes. The multicam mode can support simultaneous editing of up to eight different sources, with no restrictions on the source resolution, frame rate, or aspect ratio. With EDIUS Pro, editors can also easily speed up, slow down or even reverse the playback of any clip and get instant, high-quality realtime playback and output. EDIUS Pro not only provides realtime mixed format editing, but also realtime output to DV devices via FireWire. When used in conjunction with EDIUS realtime editing hardware, EDIUS Pro can deliver realtime output to analog devices, HD component displays, and even SD-SDI and HD-SDI VTRs (with the EDIUS SDI and EDIUS HD Desktop Edit Stations).
The EDIUS Speed Encoder for HDV timeline exporter takes advantage of CPUs that feature Dual Core technology, producing fully HDV-compliant MPEG-2 streams faster than ever before. Working on a similar level to batch capturing, EDIUS Pro allows you to create a list of different export jobs for any given project. This means that you can now nominate multiple In/Out pairings of any sequence and have EDIUS export those in one fully automated process. Your Batch Export list is saved with your project, so you can build up your job list as you go, and enable/disable export jobs as needed.
The EDIUS Pro interface features advanced bin window media management with "watch" folder clip import, media searching tools, productive yet simple mouse gestures for clip trimming, scrubbing and playback, and a realtime Vectorscope and Waveform monitor for detailed analysis of footage while capturing and editing.
EDIUS Pro offers powerful customization control over the appearance and functions of the user interface. Features include a floating window design with adjustable preset positions, options to add and remove EDIUS Pro function buttons within each window, and a keyboard shortcut mapping utility that provides users with the ability to change virtually any keyboard commands to suit their workflow. A collection of pre-programmed shortcut key presets, which emulate other popular NLE software packages, is included on the EDIUS Pro bonus disc.
